Ups and Downs...

I just thought I'd mention that America's first roller coaster, known as "Switchback Railway" opened on this day in 1884, at Coney Island.

I love roller coasters (The Beast, at King's Island, is still one of my favorites, both for childhood nostalgia and just being fun), so it seemed appropriate to mention the first.

I now return you to your regularly-scheduled perusal of the Blogiverse.

Thanks for reading my ranting,

  1. If you've never been to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, you MUST go there and ride the Maverick. It is currently my favorite (and they've got A LOT to choose from).

    Runners-up at CP include:
    The Raptor
    The Magnum
    The Gemini

Coasters at CP I refuse to go on for fear of death and/or black-out while riding:
    The Millennium Force
    The Demon Drop
    Top Thrill Dragster

Favorite non-coaster ride, and has been since I was about 8 or 9:
    Cedar Downs
It's like a carousel ride, but with race horses, so it goes way faster, and yeah, you actually race each other as you go around. They blow the trumpet at the beginning and everything. Love it.

    K, I'm done now.

  2. I have never been to Cedar Point, but have been wanting to for years.
I'm going to try and make it up there within the next couple of years.

  3. I love King's Island and Cedar Point. We're planning on checking out Darien's Lake this summer, taking one of our bachelor friends with us.
