Tuesday Treasures: Penguin Peril

I actually had something else planned for today, but then Jaleh from Ex Libris Draconis sent me this, and I realized that I had to use it; I laughed too hard not to.

The whole thing is great, but I really love how the penguin looks over the side of the boat, taunting the killer whales--"Hey, guys, whaddya gonna do now, huh? Got me a boat."

Then he gets his groove on with the ladies--"So, you float around here often? You see me get away from those guys? Pretty cool, huh?"

This was just too funny to not be used today.

Thanks, Jaleh!

  3. Lol. So nifty. They're lucky the whales didn't try to tip the boat.

When I was copyediting for a university press, I read a true story about a man who went to Alaska to do some research on oil spills. While he was there, he went fishing with one of his friends and his friend's dog. They came across a pod of whales and the dog started barking. The whales thought it was a seal and started chasing their boat! The guy looked at his friend and screamed, "What do we do???!!!" To which the man replies, "Throw the dog overboard."

Luckily, they made it to shallow water just before the whales caught up to them.

Even though the idea of throwing a dog overboard is pretty horrific, some dark twisted part of me thought it was hilarious.

  4. I had the same thought Brandi did: I'm surprised those whales gave up so easily. Still cute, though.
